Check out the "SNOW FUN" monthly themed exhibits and activities, do a craft to take home, enjoy hot chocolate and cookies, enter the coloring contest, and go snowshoeing on the trails of Central Park (if snow allows). Don't forget to visit the Jones County Wild For Reading StoryWalk® Trail to read the book - Once Upon a Winter Day by Liz Woodruff.

Join the Jones County Naturalist for a fun guided snowshoe hike and scavenger hunt at Central Park. Learn some common Iowa animal tracks and sign as you complete an eye spy scavenger hunt. Enjoy cocoa and cookies following the hike. Meet in the Nature Center Lower Level Meeting Room at 2:30 PM on Wednesday January 15th. Wear snow gear and boots. We'll provide the snowshoes. Do you like to fish? Have you ever thought about learning to tie your own flies? Join Hawkeye Fly Tyer - Mike Jacobs as he leads FLY Tying Classes in March at the Central Park Nature Center. Learn to tie 3 new flies from 5-7 PM Thursday evening in March (March 6, 13, 20, and 27). This class is a great introduction to fly tying and will include expert advise and instruction to participants attending. A fly tying vise will be provided during each class for each registered participant. All materials for tying flies will be included. Total cost for materials - only $20.
