Emergency Medical Dispatching
Jones County communication operators are trained and certified in emergency medical dispatching.
When residents call 9-1-1 with an emergency, a communication operator will ask questions to better understand how to assist them. Operators are qualified to give callers medical instructions over the phone to help them as they wait for emergency responders to arrive. This includes instructions for how to administer CPR or help someone who is choking.
Please remember, when calling with a medical emergency it is important to stay calm and stay on the line. As one operator asks questions, another will send help to the specified location. The information provided to the operator is given to responders to better prepare them when they arrive.
